How to design a minimalist living room in 5 steps.

If you do it right, you can give your living room a minimalist look that is not boring or dull like a waiting room in a dental practice, but rich, in demand and, despite the sterile appearance, also cozy. But remember one thing: use the space and don't clutter the living room with unnecessary furniture and home accessories. Here are some tips that will help you create a minimalist living room that tells a store without losing the feeling and the meaning. A nice house should always bring back a piece of yourself in a beautiful way.

1. Choose furniture with a sleek look

When looking for furniture for your minimalist living room, you should always keep a sense of simplicity in mind. Furniture with simple shapes and colors that fit together. When I say simple shapes, I mean that furniture should be sophisticated in their structure without a lot of crazy details like buttons or weird stitching. This approach keeps the room bright and light. You want the living room to feel orderly and structured and easy to clean.

If it looks a bit boring after placing all the furniture, you can always add a few nice home accessories as an eye-catcher in your living room.

2. Go for a piece with a abstract detail

Because you don't want a a crowded living room and therefore choose fewer pieces, it is nice if you go for a piece of furniture that has a subtle detail somewhere. Preferably a bit abstract. Make sure that these fit together, otherwise it might end up being a funfair when you combine the furniture.

3. Raise the furniture in the air

You must be thinking now? Furniture in the air? Correct. One of the characteristics of this interior style is: space. By allowing furniture to float above the floor, you create more space and peace. You want to feel like air is passing through all of the furniture pieces.

4. A minimalist color palette

Use a concise palette, modern minimalist house grounded with neutrals that are easy to work with whites, creams, black and grays. Light is central to minimalism. The white walls and the abundance of light make the spaces seem much larger. A minimalist interior consists mainly of white tones and black is used as a contrasting color. To create more atmosphere, small accents are sometimes added by means of colorful accessories.

5. Fewer but larger accessories and furniture

I will explain this step with the help of an example. Suppose you have bought a beautiful sideboard, but it still looks a bit bare, so you would like to decorate it with some nice home accessories. Try not to overdo it with different items. For example a vase with flowers, candles, photo frames and a few smaller jars, instead choose one larger item, then you can't go wrong!

Think simple and you will be a master interior designer specialized in minimalist interior design.
